STAMFORD - Stamford police are on the hunt for the suspects in an overnight shooting that sent one man to the hospital.

Police say the victim was walking near the corner of Mill River and Smith streets when two cars approached him. They say several people got out of the vehicles and one of them opened fire. It appears the crime was not random, according to police.

Investigators say after the victim was shot, he jumped into a nearby river and swam to a friend's house despite his wounds.
