STAMFORD - Police say the mother of a fetus found at a Stamford water treatment plant has come forward.

Officials say the woman told police she did not know she was pregnant when she had a miscarriage on the toilet.

They say she said she did not know what had happened until she flushed. Police say she also said she had a second, smaller fetus at the same time.

The other fetus was likely so small that it went though the treatment system, according to authorities. They say the woman went to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

Police say no charges will be filed against her.
