FAIRFIELD - Police in Fairfield say a man from New Jersey is facing a number of charges this morning for trying to scam an elderly man out of thousands of dollars.

They say a 21-year-old of Cherry Hill, New Jersey turned himself in this week.

Police say they connected him to three different scams across western Connecticut.

In one case back in October, police say he claimed to be a contractor wanting to do repairs at a home.

They say he agreed to charge a cheap price for his service, then charged more and, in some cases, distracted the homeowner while his workers took valuables from the house.

Police say the victim recovered most of the $2,700 he had lost, and they expect more arrests in the case.
