Police officers and suspect identified in Stratford shootout

STRATFORD - State police have identified the police officers and the suspect involved in a shootout in the Lordship section of Stratford.

Police say 40-year-old Timothy Johnson fired at officers Brian McCarthy and Louis Arbelo on Park Boulevard Wednesday morning.

Troopers say both officers fired back, with at least one shot hitting Johnson.

Johnson remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Police say officers McCarthy and Arbelo are on paid administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
