STAMFORD - Two parents were arrested in Stamford today after a 13-year-old girl was allegedly beaten by her father.

According to police, 38-year-old Carlos Chaparro beat his daughter inside their Hamilton Avenue home Tuesday morning. They say Chaparro repeatedly punched, slapped and even strangled the teenager over a school project.

Officials say the teenager had severe bruising on her face, eyes and lips. The girl's mother, 28-year-old Yellka Chaparro, was home at the time and was also arrested for not coming to her daughter's defense.

Police say it was the victim's 17-year-old brother who took his sister to get help when he came home later that day.

Both parents are expected to face a judge tomorrow.
