NORWALK - Police in four southwestern Connecticut towns are trying to determine whether a string of similar armed robberies Thursday night are connected.
Police in Trumbull received a call that an elderly man was robbed while using an ATM on White Plains Road around 8:30 p.m. Police say a man walked up to the alleged victim, took his cash and wallet and scrammed. Forty-five minutes later, police say a man robbed a woman at an ATM in Orange. The man allegedly demanded she withdraw cash and was armed with what looked like a crowbar.
There were also reports of a man robbing a Marriot hotel worker in Trumbull and another person using an ATM in Shelton. Stratford police say a man also demanded cash from a hotel worker there.
Stratford police arrested a suspect who they say was identified by at least two victims. He is being held on $50,000 bail. Detectives say they're reviewing surveillance video, and that their work is far from over.
