FAIRFIELD - Authorities say an intoxicated Westport man was arrested early this morning after pulling out a loaded gun at a Fairfield diner.

Police say Rahul Taylor brandished a gun during an argument with friends at the Athena Diner on the Post Road. According to authorities, Taylor placed a loaded gun on the table while making threats.

Authorities were then called to the scene. Taylor initially denied having a gun, but officers say they saw the weapon when they went to pat him down and had to tackle him to the ground.

Police say Taylor did have a valid permit to carry a gun. Authorities went to Taylor’s home this afternoon and seized two shotguns and ammunition. He’s due in court April 9.
