STAMFORD - Stamford police are hoping a surveillance picture will lead them to the man accused of assaulting a woman because she is gay.

Police say they have an image of the suspect as he walked away from the scene on Spring Street early Saturday morning.

Police say the man punched the woman to the ground after she told him she wasn't interested in men.

Anyone who thinks they might recognize the suspect is asked to call Stamford police.
