Police release photos of alleged hate crime suspects

STAMFORD - Police released surveillance photos today of two men they believe perpetrated a hate crime earlier this month in Stamford.

Police say the crime happened on July 9 at 55 Smith St. on Stamford's west side.

According to police reports, two men were sitting on a front porch when a passerby started taunting them with ethnic slurs. The passerby left and returned with two friends, a baseball bat and a large knife.

Police say one victim was left bludgeoned, and the other was stabbed nearly 10 times.

Authorities say both victims are expected to survive.
