FAIRFIELD - Police say a Rhode Island man is facing charges for allegedly causing a massive accident that shut down I-95 in Fairfield this past Saturday morning.

State police say 28-year-old Marco Nunez was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic when he hit a Volvo, causing it to flip multiple times. Investigators say a 3-week-old baby and her parents were in that car.

Fairfield Fire Chief Richard Felner says the three were saved by their seat belts.

"They had their seat belts on and that really, really saved them. The car rolled about three times," says Felner.

The baby and her father have been released from Bridgeport Hospital. The child's mother is in fair condition.
