Police: Shelton man hired teen to beat up bully

SHELTON - A Shelton man was arraigned today on charges he hired a teenager to assault a girl who had been bullying his daughter. Police say Phillip Prokop paid a 17-year-old girl to beat up a 13-year-old girl in the Huntington Shopping Plaza back in May. They say Prokop gave $21 to the older girl in exchange for the attack. Prokop's attorney says his client was involved in a confrontation, but that the ensuing fight was completely independent. Prokop faces two felony charges and a misdemeanor charge. The 17-year-old he allegedly hired was also arrested.
