Police: Speed, reckless driving behind fatal teen crash

(04/25/08) MILFORD - Milford police have concluded that speeding, reckless driving and the failure to buckle up safety belts killed three teenagers in a February crash.

Police investigators have determined that 17-year-old Shawn Foley had no alcohol in his system when he lost control of his car.

Police say he was trying to pass another car operated by one of his friends on a road in the Westfield Connecticut Post Mall. Foley's car left 130 feet of tire marks as it skidded into a utility pole, killing Foley and his passengers, 18-year-old Jonathan Dolceacqua and 16-year-old Michael Vicino, who died about a month later. Police say no evidence was found to substantiate witnesses' claims that the teens were racing.
