STAMFORD - Stamford police say an untimely death appears to be an accident.

They say it appears a 38-year-old Guatamalan man fell down a stairway on Lee Street.

Police say neighbors found him yesterday morning lying by the stairs leading to the third floor attic apartment where he lived.

They say after interviewing people in the neighborhood, they believe his death was likely an accident.

Police say because of the steep staircase, they're working to determine if the man was living in an illegal apartment.
