STAMFORD - A Stamford man accused of holding his girlfriend prisoner in their apartment is expected in court Monday.

Police say Rafael Martinez, 40, strangled the woman and also threatened her with a knife and frying pan.

They say Martinez rarely let the woman leave the apartment without him.

Officers say they were called by a neighbor who stepped in when she heard the couple fighting.
