BRIDGEPORT - Police say they have made an arrest in the death of Alyssiah Wiley, the Eastern Connecticut State University student whose remains were found yesterday after she went missing nearly a month ago.

Police say 30-year-old Jermaine Richards, of Bridgeport, is facing murder and kidnapping charges.

Wiley went missing after she was last spotted near a Dairy Queen in Willimantic on April 20.

Police had been searching the area for any trace of Wiley with the help of cadaver dogs when her remains were found yesterday in a wooded area in Trumbull.

It's unclear how long Wiley's remains had been at the spot. A medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death.

Richards is being held on $2 million bond and is due to appear in court on Monday.
