Police: Teen threatens girl over prom refusal

Stratford police say a West Haven teenager is facing charges for threatening to kill a girl who refused to go to the prom with him.

STRATFORD - Stratford police say a West Haven teenager is facing charges for threatening to kill a girl who refused to go to the prom with him.

Police say they arrested 18-year-old Trevon Malik Avery Friday.

They say the 17-year-old girl claims Avery sent her threatening text messages, including one of a gun.

News 12 is told Avery was arraigned and is now placed on house arrest, but is allowed to attend school.
