WEST HAVEN - Police in West Haven say a couple was hurt last night when lightning struck a tree at the city beach.

Authorities say the couple was walking on Oak Grove Field when a nearby tree was struck, and both were hurt by the energy transfer.

Police say the victims were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition.
