WESTPORT - A Westport couple arrested last month following a standoff with police is facing new charges for allegedly vandalizing a neighbor's property.

Police say Kyle and Carrie Owen are now charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing for throwing rocks and shooting arrows onto their neighbor's property.

The new charges stem from security footage from the business next store. According to the arrest warrant, the video shows the couple throwing large rocks over the fence into their neighbor's driveway, and Carrie Owen jumping the fence to arrange them to block the driveway or cause damage to cars.

Court documents also claim Kyle Owen was recorded shooting arrows at the property.

News 12 is told that when police first went to talk to the Owens about their neighbor's complaint, it led to a two-hour standoff. The husband and wife were taken into custody following that incident.

Police say they spent the next couple of weeks following up on the neighbor's claims, resulting in the couple's second arrest.

Police add that while they don't believe the couple intended to hurt anyone, they are still investigating.

In response, the Owens' attorney issued a statement saying, "While the Westport Police Department is one of the best in the state generally, sometimes even very good police officers get it very wrong. There's more to this case than meets the eye."

The Owens will be in court next week on the disorderly conduct and criminal trespass charges, as well as charges from the standoff.
