Police: Woman shot at Norwalk grocery store

Norwalk police say a woman was shot during an attempted robbery at a grocery store today.The crime occurred this afternoon at the Stop & Shop

NORWALK - Norwalk police say a woman was shot during an attempted robbery at a grocery store today.

The crime occurred this afternoon at the Stop & Shop on Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk.

Police say the shooter was trying to rob or carjack the 50-year-old woman in her vehicle.

Authorities report that the man pulled a gun out of his boot and shot the Greenwich resident in the stomach.

Officials say the victim was taken to the hospital, and is alert and conscious.

Police say the suspect is a 20 to 30-year-old black man, who is clean-shaven, about 6 feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He was allegedly wearing a dark hoodie, blue jeans and black sneakers during the incident.
