HARTFORD - The state's utilities held a briefing this morning in Hartford to update customers.

Bill Quinlan from CL&P said the company is working around the clock to get power restored to 98 percent of its customers by Monday or Tuesday.

He says this is not a guarantee, some places may take longer, but the company is optimistic it can do it.

Quinlan also said they're estimating that 2,000 linemen are working to meet that goal.

Meanwhile, United Illuminating says its estimate is for 95 percent of customers to have power by midnight Monday.

Company president James Torgeson also disagreed with Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch's comments that U.I. is responding poorly to its customers.

U.I. and CL&P say town-by-town estimates of their restoration plans will be out tomorrow.
