HARTFORD - The number of power outages continues to decline as Connecticut Light and Power works to meet a midnight deadline.

About 3,500 CL&P customers were without power as of this morning.

Gov. Dannel Malloy spoke today to a committee that is investigating problems restoring power after the snowstorm and Tropical Storm Irene.

Malloy says he wants real improvements and is not looking for quick, political fixes. He says he wants the panel to submit its recommendations by December.
