Power restored in Darien after manhole fire

About 4,300 people were without power due to the fire on West Avenue. (7/2/14)

DARIEN - The lights are back on in Darien after a fire in a manhole knocked out power for thousands of customers.

It happened near an underground substation on West Avenue last night.

Connecticut Light & Power says at one point, about 4,300 people were without power.

Officials are not sure what caused the fire.
