BRIDGEPORT - The family of a 6-year-old Bridgeport girl who was struck by a hit-and-run driver earlier this week held a prayer vigil for her recovery.
Diamond Battle was hit near Washington and Highland avenues on Monday. Police say she was walking with her aunt when a light-colored SUV clipped both of them and never stopped. They add that Battle's aunt, Bennie Mae Smith, was not seriously injured and is expected to make a full recovery.
Battle is currently listed in critical condition, having suffered massive trauma to her internal organs, but family members say she is improving.
