WASHINGTON - (AP) - The flailing economy continues to dominatemuch of President Barack Obama's attention but today is a brightspot as he signs the economic stimulus measure. The $787 billion stimulus plan offers a massive jolt to aneconomy in trouble. Obama says the combination of spending and taxcuts isn't a cure-all, but will help spark a turnaround. It was not the bipartisan triumph the president had hoped for.Just three Republicans backed it in the Senate, and zero in theHouse. And while Obama calls it the right size and scope, GOPleaders say it's bloated and likely to be ineffective. Obama is signing the measure at Denver's Museum of Nature &Science, to spotlight its cash for "green" technology. That's oneof several areas where the bill aims to create jobs and invest inthe future.
