Priest sex abuse lawsuit filed

NEW HAVEN - A Stratford man has filed a lawsuit claiming he was abused by a Catholic priest in Trumbull.

Brooks Thopsey claims he was molested by now-defrocked Father John Castaldo when he was an alter boy at St. Theresa's Church in Trumbull between 1989 and 1992.

Thopsey is suing Castaldo, the Diocese of Bridgeport and former New York Cardinal Edward Egan, who was bishop of the diocese at the time of the alleged abuse.

Castaldo originally came under fire when he was arrested in 2001 for having explicit online sexual conversations with a police officer posing as a 14-year-old boy.
