BRIDGEPORT - A program started by a Fairfield high school student is helping domestic violence victims.

The Calls 4 Justice program was started about a year and a half ago by Jacqueline Kaiser.

As part of the program, the Center for Family Justice in Bridgeport takes cellphones and gives them to Verizon, who wipes the personal data and then adds 100 minutes to each phone.

The phones are given to domestic violence victims, who are told to use it to dial 911 in the event of an emergency.

Kaiser says that so far, she has collected more than 200 cellphones.

She is also talking with hotel chains about collecting phones that are left behind.
