BRIDGEPORT - Employees at nonprofit Action for Bridgeport Community Development say they don't know how to break the news to more than 300 families that go to the program that it might not exist in the future.
ABCD employees say they've seen budget cuts steadily increase over the years. The state recently allocated $400,000 for Bridge Together, an educational program the agency offers.
If funding is pulled as a result of Gov. Dannel Malloy's latest budget proposal, however, workers say they don't know what to say to the families they serve.
ABCD employees say they could receive some block grants, but the state's Office of Early Childhood will have to decide how to allocate those funds to different agencies.
