Prosecutors seek new DiMeo hearing

FAIRFIELD - Prosecutors want a new penalty trial for a man sentenced to life in prison for killing a couple in their Fairfield jewelry store.

Christopher DiMeo was convicted of killing Kim and Tim Donnelly during a robbery in 2005.

DiMeo faced the possibility of the death penalty, but instead was given a life sentence on Friday.

Prosecutors say they should get a new hearing because the jury spilt on part of the sentencing.

A hearing could be held on the request in May.
