Questions arise over Metro-North train safety

STAMFORD - Metro-North commuters are questioning their safety after a train inbound from Stamford traveled part of the way with the door open on Monday.

A video was posted on YouTube, documenting one of the recurring problems with the 40-year-old cars on the New Haven line.

A Metro-North spokesperson confirms a door was stuck open after it pulled out of the Harlem-125th Street station, but officials say that normally the train can't move if a door is open.

In the video, passengers are seen standing just inches away from the door as the train barreled into Grand Central station, until a passenger was able to get the door to close.

Metro-North officials say it has impounded the train to investigate the problem.
