NEW CANAAN - Police say a rabbit was found beheaded in New Canaan, and now authorities are investigating a possible link among several animal decapitations in the New Canaan area.

Investigators say that three high school girls may have been the intended targets of the animal attacks.

The rabbit discovery is the latest in a string of decapitation incidents that New Canaan police have encountered since October. Authorities say that three birds, a cat and a rabbit were all found with their heads cut off. In each case, the animals turned up in a car or near a home of three female high school seniors, all of whom are friends.

Authorities also say they have some surveillance video of one of the incidents, and are asking anyone one who might have information on the attacks to call New Caanan police.
