FAIRFIELD - Election officials say a recount held in Fairfield today has affirmed Republican Brenda Kupchick has a 21-vote margin of victory over Democratic incumbent Tom Drew in the 132nd District state House race.
The initial count showed Kupchick with a 14-vote lead. Officials say the recount was automatic because there was less than a 20-point spread between the two candidates.
Attorneys and observers from both parties watched as officials checked every ballot to make sure it would be read by the machine before sending it through. The ballots were then also hand-counted. Drew says he still wants to review some numbers on his own.
