NORWALK - The American Red Cross teamed up with a local not-for-profit group to hold a free disaster response orientation on Saturday.

Volunteer Square and the Connecticut chapter of the Red Cross hosted the event at the SoNo Field House to educate local residents about what to do in an emergency such as Superstorm Sandy.

Organizers from the Red Cross say that they are always happy when they hear from people who want to make a disaster plan for their families.

The session also gave residents information about volunteer opportunities in their communities before, during and after a disaster strikes.
