Red Cross gives snow advice

NORWALK - The Red Cross is giving local residents some tips to stay safe in a blizzard.

The organization says residents should stock up on supplies, such as first-aid items, non-perishable food and extra batteries, in case they can't get to the store.

The Red Cross urges residents to stay home if they don't have to leave the house. Those who do have to drive are cautioned to take it slow and leave space between other cars.

If using a snow blower, experts say never use your hand to clear a clog. Residents are also urged to dress in layers to keep warm.
