REDDING - A week after a surprise snowstorm walloped southwestern Connecticut, downing trees and power lines, more than 30 percent of residents in Redding are still in the dark.

Janet August says she has been forced to heat her home with firewood after a tree severed a power line last weekend.

First Selectwoman Natalie Ketcham says she's pressuring Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) to make good on its promise to restore 99 percent of the town's power by tomorrow night.

"We're resilient to a certain extent, but an outage of this length of time has disrupted everybody's lives," she says.

Many Redding residents say they have little faith in the utility company which has been slow to respond to the outages.

CL&P says it's had nearly 30 crews in Redding the last couple days repairing lines.
