REDDING - Redding residents voted to not establish a police commission to oversee the department tonight.

Town officials say 348 people voted yes for the commission, while 848 people voted no.

The police commission would have had the authority to appoint, promote and reprimand all of the town's police officers. It would have also overseen the department's annual budget.
