NEW HAVEN - Gov. Jodi Rell unveiled the first two-car set of the new M-8 Rail Cars in New Haven Thursday.

It has been four years since Rell announced that the state planned to purchase 300 new rail cars, which were to replace the current New Haven Line car fleet that has been in use for the past 30 years.

On Thursday, Rell was given a brief tour of the new cars and praised their spaciousness. The first set of cars will be put into service in 2010 after undergoing six months of testing.
