NORWALK - Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.) visited the Open Door Shelter in Norwalk yesterday, where he dropped off groceries for holiday meals.

Jeanette Archer-Simmons, the shelter's interim director, says the food will go toward making healthy meals for more than 500 people they serve on a daily basis, and the 800 families who receive food boxes.

Archer-Simmons says it's critical the government keeps funding shelters.
