STAMFORD - State legislators insist a law recently signed into effect by Gov. Dannel Malloy will help homeowners avoid foreclosure.
Rep. William Tong (D-147th District) voiced his support for the measure Friday at the home of a woman at risk of losing her property. Cheryl Richter has lived on Barholm Avenue for around 20 years, but has been struggling to pay her mortgage.
Tong joined other local officials at the home to highlight the difficulties of dealing with banks and the mediation process. He mentioned that the new law holds banks accountable to a fair and balanced foreclosure process.
