Report: Speeding truck caused crash that killed Westport girl in ME

WESTPORT - Police in Maine have concluded that a tractor-trailer that struck a YMCA van, causing the death of a young southwestern Connecticut girl on Aug. 17, was speeding.

Tess Meisel, 12, of Westport, was killed when the truck struck the camp van, which was on the way back from Acadia National Park in Maine.

Investigators say the truck was traveling at least 41 mph in a 30-mph zone.

Officials say prosecutors are still deciding whether to file charges against the truck driver.
