NORWALK - Residents across southwestern Connecticut braved the elements today as frigid temperatures rolled in.

Last night's snowfall gave some children, including many in Wilton, a late start to their school day. Some say they enjoyed being able to go out and play in the snow for the first time since last winter.

On Main Street in Norwalk, Salvation Army bell ringers spent the day bundled up outside trying to stay warm. One volunteer said it was too cold, but the money was needed for people in the community.
