NEW CANAAN - The first in a series of four public hearings investigating power companies' response to the March 13 nor'easter was held Wednesday in New Canaan.

Residents utilized the opportunity to comment on Connecticut Light & Power's and United Illuminating's responses to the storm that knocked out power to about 140,000 people in Connecticut.

One man suggested moving power lines under ground to prevent future storm-related incidents, while another claimed crews weren?t allowed to work enough hours to restore power properly.

Further hearings are scheduled next week in Greenwich, Westport and Fairfield.
