STRATFORD - Stratford residents took part in an event Saturday to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving.
The Wayne's Walk Foundation held its sixth annual Wayne's Walk at Short Beach Park.
The event was named after Stratford native Wayne Lecardo, who died in 2007 in a crash involving a teenage drunken driver.
Alan Guzzi, who participated in the walk, says he lost his brother to a drunken driving incident and hopes to prevent others from losing their loved ones the same way.
“It's a devastating thing for people and it's wonderful that we can raise awareness and help people understand how it affects families and how it affects other people,” he says.
A beach party was held at the park following the walk.
