TRUMBULL - Rev. Frank Caggiano was installed Thursday as the new bishop of the Diocese of Bridgeport.

Caggiano became the fifth bishop of the diocese, a position he says he will use to reach out to every generation in the church. Prior to the ceremony, he met with a group of younger parishioners.

The service was held at St. Theresa's Church in Trumbull to accommodate the thousands of priests and worshippers in attendance. Among those invited were Archbishop William Lori of Baltimore and Cardinal Edward Egan, the retired archbishop of New York.

The Brooklyn native says the days and weeks ahead will be a period of growth and renewal for the diocese.
