STAMFORD - A Stamford middle school’s head custodian says his recent arrest for allegedly scamming the public school system comes after he was allegedly racially targeted by his boss.

Police say as head custodian at Rippowam Middle School, 65-year-old Andrew Shavers would often leave his post while he was still clocked in. Officials say they found out he was leaving by following him.

“This arrest is not based on his color of his skin or anything else,” said Lt. Diedrich Hohn, of the Stamford Police Department. “It's based on facts that were found in our investigation.”

Police say several other custodians at the school are also under investigation.
