EASTON - The tree that will draw thousands of people from across the county to Rockefeller Center this winter was cut down Wednesday outside a home in Easton.

Maria Corti, the owner of the 10-ton, 76-year-old Norway spruce, says she was not sad to part with the tree because she knows it will be a part of everyone's holiday season.

Corti says she e-mailed Rockefeller Center on a whim, suggesting her tree would be perfect for its display, and the selection committee agreed.

The tree will be set up in Rockefeller Center Thursday. The annual lighting ceremony is scheduled for Dec. 2.
