BRIDGEPORT - A Bridgeport woman is charged with beating her dog to death last month.

Rommy Rodriguez, 24, of Bridgeport, showed little emotion as she stood before a judge. Authorities say Rodriguez beat her female poodle puppy Dora to death, and then buried the animal in her backyard outside her apartment at 271 Pacific St.

Investigators say the deadly beating was captured on tape.

News 12 spoke today with Sandra Contreras, of Bridgeport, who says she heard the audio recording taken by her uncle of the deadly attack. Contreras says she later found out the dog had been buried behind the house belonging to her uncle. She then dug up the remains of the animal and took it straight to police.

The judge released Rodriguez on a promise to appear back in court next month, with the understanding that she is to have no contact with animals.
