Contractors say it's common to see snow and ice build up on people's roofs and then clog gutters. They say when heat rises from the home, water has no place to go but under the roof shingles. (February 10, 2014 5:51 PM)

With more snow expected this week, many in southwestern Connecticut are worried about heavy snow on their roofs.

Workers at Poster Hardware and Housewares on Black Rock Turnpike say customers are coming in looking for roof rakes, which are used to clear snow from roofs. The store’s owner says more homeowners should be equipped to deal with snow accumulations each winter.
