Route 7 reopens after downed trees

The state Department of Transportation is advising drivers to avoid Route 7 in Wilton due to downed trees.

Route 7 is closed between Branchville Road and Scholl Street after two trees were knocked down by the wind.

WILTON - Route 7 in Wilton has been reopened after being closed Tuesday due to downed trees.

Only one lane of the road was open Tuesday night between Branchville Road and Scholl Street.

Officials say two trees were knocked down by the wind and fell across power lines around 10:45 a.m.
