Salvation Army gives Thanksgiving meals to the needy

STAMFORD - The Stamford Salvation Army was busy Tuesday trying to distribute thousands of food bags and turkeys to the needy in time for Thanksgiving.

The organization doled out 1,500 frozen turkeys and 1,700 bags filled with trimmings to the less fortunate. The food was given to 20 charities, 5 subsidized housing complexes, the homes of 50 immobile residents and others in need.

Anyone interested in donating to the Salvation Army can find kettles at any city A&P or Stop & Shop. An online kettle is also available for Internet donations.

For an interview about the Stew Leonard's donation, go to Channel 612 on your iO digital cable box and select iO Extra.
