BRIDGEPORT - School officials say a student at Harding High School in Bridgeport tried to sneak a disassembled gun and a knife into the building through a side entrance on Wednesday.

The student was confronted by security and promptly dropped his backpack and ran.

The building was placed under lockdown for almost two hours, though students say incidents like this have happened before and are more distracting than upsetting.

Students are required to enter the building through metal detectors. School officials say the student will be expelled once found.
